With the start of the new season upon us the PAL Staff would like to welcome back all of our players new and old. This year are Pee Wee Division will carry (6) teams our Minor Division will carry (6) teams and our Major Division will carry (8) teams.
The Minor Division has been reduced due to the teams being uneven. The league is attempting to create a solid division where every team can beat each other on any given day. Hopefully this will work-out. I believe we have created 6 solid teams that can do that.
New Format
Since our rink is small and our players are good, we will play a 3 on 3 format in the upper divisions. This will not only open the rink up but it will showcase the fast play.
We have also spoke about reducing the game times from 36 minutes to (3) 9 minute periods. This will do well playing 3 on 3, try running at full steam for 3 minutes and tell us how you feel. Oh yeah, while chasing a ball!!
We will also change on the fly, and not have stops during the games. This will give teams flexibility, but will also have the kids experience real hockey. Even playing time will still be in effect but not having the clock stop every 4 minutes will allow the kids a bit of freedom.
Welcome,
NEW STARTING TIMES FOR GAMES:
All Divisions will start at 5:30pm, 6:00pm, and 6:30pm. These times will work better for our younger players and their parents.
Our league will now play one Saturday per month so your parents may have a day off from your hectic schedule.
Please make note of the NEW CODE OF CONDUCT RULE: If at anytime a parent verbally abuses a referee, coach, and/or player, he or she will be expelled from the building. Your child, participating in said game would also be expelled form that game. A second infraction of said offense will lead to permanent expulsion from the PAL Floor Hockey Program.
The Police Athletic League brought forth this rule, but with your cooperation, this rule should not come into play.
This season, you as a player MUST ATTEND PRACTICE or you will be docked playing time. It is not fair for the coach, who volunteers his time to make arrangements for practice time to have only a couple of players show up. Many coaches have expressed interest with this rule. Not all teams practice every week but when they do, PAL would like you, as a player to attend. If a player has an issue with practice the coach will notify the Hockey Board of said issue.
Thanks for your support, and good luck this season.
